Bag Tag Format and Rules
Bag Tag Purpose
The purpose of the Bag Tag is to add another fun element to personal, league, and tournament rounds of disc golf.
Your goal is to have the lowest numbered Bag Tag possible.
Bag Tag rules
Any time that two tag-holding members play in a round together on the same layout at the same time, bag tags are in play.
Any club members who currently (and physically) possess a bag tag may challenge, be challenged, or participate in bag tag challenges.
While tags are in play during casual rounds, players may also make official challenges for tags to people if they want to take their lower # tag or if it is a player that they do not frequently play. This may be made in person, or electronically (ie, via Facebook) in order for a player to take a better tag.
IF PLAYERS TIE DURING A ROUND THAT TAGS ARE IN PLAY, THE PLAYERS KEEP THEIR ORIGINAL TAGS. The only way to take a tag, is to outright beat a player during the round.
Any member with a higher # Bag Tag number may challenge any player with a lower # Bag Tag number to a round of disc golf. The outright winner leaves with the lower tag and bragging rights.
Members cannot avoid official challenges by: leaving the Bag Tag at home, concealing your Bag Tag, or not playing with other players at the course.
The player receiving the challenge can choose which course and the layout to be played. The challenged player must make a “fair and reasonable” effort to be available within 7 days (With the exception of if the person is unable to play ie; illness, injury, travel etc. The maximum amount of time someone could be physically unable to play without forfeiting their tag would be 14 days)
If the challenged player cannot meet during the 7 day challenge period, they forfeit their tag to the challenger. Any changes made after an agreed upon challenge must be agreed upon by all parties.
If the challenger cannot attend a reasonable time or date for the match within the 7 day window, the challenge is void and both players may look for new challenges.
Challenges are on a round-by-round basis; i.e. challenges are for one round only in a multiple round event.
Bag Tag exchange example scenarios:
1) Robert has the #2 tag and Jacob has the #23 Tag. They play a round and Robert shoots -4, while Jacob shoots -3. Robert and Jacob keep their tags.
2) Robert has the #2 tag and Jacob has the #23 Tag. They play a round and Robert shoots -4, while Jacob shoots -4. Robert and Jacob still keep their tags, since Jacob did not OUTRIGHT WIN...a tie is the same as winning for the low tag.
3) Robert has the #2 tag and Jacob has the #23 Tag. They play a round and Robert shoots -4, while Jacob shoots -5. Robert and Jacob will immediately exchange their tags following the round, since Jacob OUTRIGHT WON the round.
